John Rains' Firebird runs in "Production Supercharged" class -- and it is a very (VERY!) fast car. With a class "E" engine (that's between 184 and 261 cubic inches) the car holds a record of 256.789 mph, and with a "D" motor, the next size larger (261 to 306 cu.in.) it holds a record of 297.663 mph. That's just about 300 mph, right? I said it's a fast car...

There's a great article about John in DragRaceCentral.com

Joe Ledford's C/STR (engine class C/Street Roadster) got him his 200 MPH Club hat in 2006. We know Joe pretty well -- he's a regular at Maxton, North Carolina, as well as at Bonneville. The "Street Roadster" class requires that the body be either an original or an exact duplicate of an American production roadster produced between 1923 and 1938, with only a few modifications allowed.
